Northside’s basketball teams recorded a sweep Friday night in its 6A-Central road openers.

The Grizzlies were able to outlast Little Rock Catholic, 45-40, while the Lady Bears won at Mount St. Mary, 68-52.

In the Grizzlies’ win, they were able to break a 38-all score after three quarters. Northside (13-4, 3-0) outscored the Rockets in the fourth quarter, 7-2.

Jaylin Williams finished with 20 points and had a double-double of 10 rebounds to go along with three blocks. He also went 6-of-11 from the field and converted two 3-point baskets.

Maury Owens added eight points in the win, the Grizzlies’ 11th straight.

Meanwhile, the Lady Bears (14-3, 3-0) were able to record their ninth consecutive win. Up 13-10 through one quarter, Northside posted a 15-5 second-quarter edge to build a 28-15 halftime advantage.

Northside also led 49-30 through three quarters.

Three Lady Bears reached double figures, with Jersey Wolfenbarger and Tracey Bershers each scoring 18 points. Wolfenbarger had 12 of her points in the second half, while Bershers had 12 of hers in the first half. Bershers also made six 3's.

Haitianna Releford had 11 of her 13 points in the second half as well for the Lady Bears.

The Lady Bears and Grizzlies now return back home on Tuesday to take on Conway.
